Is working from the sofa a really good option?
Working from home has been increasingly popular in the recent years. In some cases it actually becomes a necessity. At first working from the sofa may seem a dream straight from the movies and the smart and flexible work has a lot of perks, however in the long run it also has some challenges. Long hours spent in front of the computer and dealing with health and physical fatigues such as tired eyes, a bad posture and working for long periods without any physical activity. These can be avoided by keeping healthy habits, choosing the right furniture and the right monitor for the home office. There are some small, yet crucial aspects to always keep in mind.
Ergonomic monitors for maximum comfort
First, posture – crucial in shaping and living the home office. Other than an ergonomic chair and a desk high enough for the body to always be in a relaxed position, the monitor should also feature some helpful elements. If monitors are positioned too high or too low, users have to stretch or lower their head and neck to compensate for the incorrect viewing angle, which can quickly lead to discomfort and pain. So it would be better to choose an ergonomic monitor that assures freedom of movement thanks to an adjustable stand.
AOC’s P1 series (from the 21.5”/ 54.7 cm 22P1 to the 27”/ 68.6 cm 27P1 or Q27P1) and 90 series (for example, the 23.8”/ 60.4 cm I2490PXQU and the 27” / 68.6 cm Q2790PQU or U2790PQU) offer a height adjustment of 130 mm or 150 mm, which makes it possible to adjust the display so that the top bezel of the monitor is equal to or just below the eye level of the user. In addition, there is tilt support for adjusting the angle and swivel support to turn the monitor horizontally to avoid sun glare. The stands also support pivot mode for consuming vertical content such as word documents or web pages.
Adaptable workspaces with AOC arms
If the user’s current monitor is equipped with VESA 75x75mm or 100x100mm mounting holes, they can get the same functionality with AOC’s single monitor arm AS110D0 or dual monitor arm AD110D0. These mechanical gas-spring monitor arms can be fixed to a desk using the included grommet or clamp mount, offering easy adjustment with firm hand moves while remaining sturdy in its position. The AS110D0 offers 320 mm, and the dual arm AD110D0 230mm of height adjustment, and both allow the monitor(s) to be rotated by 360° (pivot option) and have a wide tilt range.
Low blue mode, Flicker-free and Anti-glare for eye comfort
Tired eyes can be avoided thanks to some interesting and innovative technologies. LowBlue Mode uses a smart software technology to reduce harmful shortwave blue light, while Flicker-free and Anti-glare screen coating further help in reducing the stress on the eyes.
Have a rest
Lastly, regular short breaks are important to allow the body to recover and the eyes to rest. During breaks it is better to stand up and walk around, breathe deeply and do some gentle stretches to relieve tension in the neck, shoulder, arm and hip areas.
So say no to slouching on the sofa and make sure you take care of the right posture, healthy habits and ergonomic gear to set up your perfect home office environment.
